Hajj and Umrah: data that works in the holy cities

The holy cities have some of the densest mobile networks on earth — built for millions of pilgrims. The bottleneck is not coverage. It is the airport SIM queue after a long flight, and a local plan that wants your passport.

Install before you leave home

Buy a Saudi Arabia package, install the eSIM on Wi-Fi at home, and land in Jeddah or Madinah already on STC, Mobily or Zain. Validity starts when the phone first sees a Saudi tower, not when you pay.

Coverage where it matters

Makkah and the Haram: dense 5G, built for crowd capacity.
Madinah and the Prophet’s Mosque: the same.
Jeddah airport to the Haramain train: continuous 5G.
Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah during Hajj: LTE/5G on the pilgrimage routes; the tents can get congested at peak hours.

How much data

WhatsApp, maps and a few calls home: 3 GB for Umrah. Hajj with photos, group chats and translation apps: 10 GB is the comfortable pick. Hotspot to a tablet is included if you are travelling with family.
